4 Decades, 4 Freedoms, 4 All Users!

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Free Software Foundation and to foster connections and exchange among free-software supporters, enthusiasts and GNU/Linux users in Harbin, I will hold an in-person meet-up in twelve hours at the Starbucks in Capitaland (Address: No. 1 Xuefu Road, Nangang District, Harbin). Free-software supporters, enthusiasts, GNU/Linux users/enthusiasts and anyone interested are warmly welcome to join.

The event has been published on the Free Software Foundation website and is genuine. The event details are posted on my personal blog as follows:

  1. Time: 09:00 on 4 October 2025 (Beijing Time).
  2. Location: Meet at the entrance of the Starbucks in Capitaland, No. 1 Xuefu Road, Nangang District, Harbin. To make myself easy to recognise I will be wearing a headpiece bearing “自由软件我爱你”.
  3. Transport: Take Harbin Metro Line 1 to Xuefu Road station and exit via Exit 1. The following bus routes also serve the area: 11, 31, 64, 67, 68, 83, 87, 88, 94, 104, 107, 114, 120, 203, 209, 343.
  4. Reservation/Registration: No reservation or registration is required — just turn up.
  5. Programme: First there will be a short presentation of a few minutes introducing free software and GNU/Linux and their importance; afterwards we will have an informal discussion according to attendees’ interests; finally we will launch a GNU/Linux user group on site, provisionally named “Qianlima GNU/Linux User Group”.

Small gifts will be distributed to attendees.

Note: As we plan to establish a GNU/Linux user group during the event, please prepare a Matrix or XMPP account in advance and bring it so you can join the discussion group.

Wishing the meet-up every success and looking forward to pleasant exchanges with everyone!
